BHR owns 15 hotel and resort properties comprising approximately 3,800 hotel rooms under a handful of brands, including Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, and Park Hyatt. Focused primarily in Florida and California, BHR derives roughly 60% of its revenues from Resort properties and 40% from Urban properties.
CEO Richard Stockton joins the Hoya Hotseat to discuss BHR's unique focus on the resort segment, the company's growth since its 2013 spin-off from Ashford Hospitality Trust, and broader hotel industry fundamentals, Continue reading ▶︎ Interviews Press All Hoya Hotseat BHR Alex Pettee, CFA Transcript yeah absolutely so Brar hotels and resorts is a publicly listed lodging re that is focused on the luxury segment of hotels uh so about seven years ago we decided to change the strategy a little bit Focus only on luxury hotels because we had done some research that indicated that since the late 80s the chains scale segment with the highest revar growth of any was luxury and that was because luxury hotels have much higher barriers to entry uh more difficult to build competing Supply and so over the longer the longer term they're going to be able to grow more quickly than other types of hotels uh so since then we've acquired uh another half a dozen or so hotels we now have have2 and A5 billion dollars in luxury hotels located around the country so we're in uh all the mountain resorts beach resorts but also Urban locations so uh Brar was a spin-off from another Reit uh there was another Reit that iped in 2003 called asford Hospitality trust and then in 2013 only the best assets from Ashford Hospitality trust were spun off into ...
