A passionate Hoya through and through, Alex Pettee founded Hoya Capital Real Estate, a Connecticut-based registered investment advisor that is working to make real estate investing more accessible to all investors.
Alex's commentary on the US residential and commercial real estate markets has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg TV, CNN, and Forbes, and his commentary on the ETF marketplace has been featured in ETF.com, ETF Trends, Benzinga, Zacks, ETF Express, and ETF Strategy.
A dual-degree holder and two-sport athlete at Georgetown, Alex played baseball and ran track for the Hoyas, studying Finance and Real Estate. Alex is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Series 65 license.
Alex leads Hoya Capital research and manages the firm's two NYSE-listed real estate funds, the Hoya Capital Housing ETF (HOMZ) and the Hoya Capital High Dividend Yield ETF (RIET). He has published more than 2,000 research reports.
His research appears in Hoya Capital Income Builder, the firm's REIT research platform, and in iREIT+HOYA, the premium research service offered through Seeking Alpha, focused on real income producing assets that offer the opportunity for monthly income, diversification, and inflation hedging.
The funds he manages seek to track, before fees and expenses, the firm's two rules-based indexes. The Hoya Capital Housing 100 Index is composed of the 100 companies that collectively represent the performance of the US housing industry, and the Hoya Capital High Dividend Yield Index is designed to provide diversified exposure to 100 of the highest dividend-yielding real estate securities in the United States.
